Measuring Up report released: Schools continue to improve

There is much to celebrate in Abbotsford as the District remains a provincial leader in academics, arts and athletics, according to the recently released Measuring Up report. Among other things, the report highlights early learning progress and graduation success.

“We applaud the many achievements of our students and recognize that thriving learning environments are cultivated by our exemplary teachers, support staff, and leaders,” says Shirley Wilson, Chair of the Abbotsford Board of Education. “The Measuring Up report is one of the important ways that the Board communicates with parents and the broader community about how we are doing. We want the public to know that our public education system is strong and that here in Abbotsford we continue to have high aspirations for the future.”

The Board’s annual update on student achievement was presented to key community stakeholders on February 28th, at the Matsqui Centennial Auditorium. Superintendent Kevin Godden presented key elements of the report and dug deeper into the District’s performance on student achievement measures.

“Abbotsford continues to be a high-achieving District, not just in the lower mainland but across Canada,” noted Kevin Godden, Superintendent of Schools. “The Board’s strategic priorities – student success, optimized resources, engaging opportunities and progressive workforce – are the back bone of what we do, which is providing an innovative and individualized educational experience for every student.”

The full Measuring Up report is available on the District website.
