Reporting Policy

REPORTS, LETTER GRADES AND EFFORT INDICATORS

Reporting takes many forms: telephone calls, notes sent home, or informal conversations at the school.  Formal report cards are issued three times a year; in November, in March, and at the end of the year.  At other times during the year, interim reports may be issued at the discretion of individual teachers.
Report cards are sent home to inform the parents and student of the level of achievement for the term using the scale outlined on the report card cover.  Reports also contain letter grades according to the Ministry of Education guidelines as follows:

A: The student demonstrates excellent or outstanding performance in relation to expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.
B: The student demonstrates very good performance in relation to expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.
C+: The student demonstrates good performance in relation to expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.
C: The student demonstrates satisfactory performance in relation to expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.
C-: The student demonstrates minimally acceptable performance in relation to expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.
I: Incomplete.  The student is making progress, but it has been determined that additional time is required to meet the expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.
F: Failed or Failing.  The student has not demonstrated, or is not demonstrating minimally acceptable performance in relation to the expected learning outcomes for the subject or grade.

EFFORT INDICATORS

Student Effort is indicated in the Work Habit Category of the Report Card.
G: Work and study habits are Good
S: Work and study habits are Satisfactory
N: Work and study habits Need Improvement

PARENT-TEACHER INTERVIEWS

Formal Parent-Teacher interviews are scheduled in November with the first report card.  A sign-up sheet will be sent home via the newsletter a few weeks prior.
Appointments can also be set up at any time with individual teachers. It is best for parents to contact their student’s Homeroom teacher and make arrangements for an appointment. Teacher contact information is located on page 2 of every Newsletter and on our web page.

Principal's List, Honor and Effort Roll

Every Term we honour our top students with a Recognition Assembly. Students receiving Principal's List and other students who are deserving of recognition are recognized before the whole school. Honor and Effort Roll students are awarded their certificates in Grade Assemblies arranged by the Team teachers.

Our Year End Award's Assembly is held on the last day of school in June.
